CUTC
Ahh, these last two days have been pretty hectic. The CUTC is going on from the 19-21st of January 2005. Lots of freebies there! Haha, but there's a lot more it has to offer. First day was great, we started out with a keynote address by David Yach, Senior VP of RIM talking about wireless, learn a lot about push and pull methods. Did you know that battery life in modern phones has been increased dramatically by switching on an off the phone's transmitter several times a minute? Well moving on, there was a very enlightening talk by David Ossip, Founder and CEO of Workbrain. He talked a lot about his startup, really enlightening, but all I can remember off the top of my head is that be careful with VC's and book recommendations, Crossing the Chasm, and the other book, I cant remember but it was by the same author I believe. Then Eugene Roman, Group President of Bell Systems and Technology gave us a spirited talk about how we were the future and that highspeed internet will be widespread soon. The was a somewhat boring talk about interesting technology by Alan Ganek of IBM Autonomic computing section. After that we had an good dinner, and saw a funny Techshow, featuring Micheal Furdyk, the young internet millionaire, seemed kinda shy; Ray Simonson of Bluegill Tech, entertaining, (dropped out of Waterloo cause he got his wife pregnant at the wrong time) and Mark Relph of Microsoft showing off his gadgets, nothing super impressive there I think. Anyway will write more about days 2 and 3 later.
